965 pair with turbo trainer for direct data to garment connect

I was thinking of getting a wahoo trainer kicker v6 or the wahoo core maybe, also considering the zwift hub.
Will my 965 pair with these trainers and will the data sync with garments connect and link in with my V02, training readiness and all that good stuff on the 965?
I want to start zwifting.
Any info or tips welcome

  • Hi Owen.

There is no need to pair the 965 with the trainer as Zwift can upload your rides to Garmin Connect directly. Just pair Zwift to your Garmin Account in  the Zwift-Settings. All your VO2, training readiness etc. are a taking these rides into account accordingly.
There is just one drawback: Garmin connect does NOT take your Zwift rides into account for the Garmin challenges (old standing problem). If you want to have that, you can do the folllowing: don"t pair your Garmin account to Zwift. Pair your 965 to the kickr and record your zwift acitivity with the 965. After the ride edit the kms and elevation of the ride to match the numbers of your Zwift ride. This way your rides count for the Garmin challenges and all the  measures like VO2max, training readiness are updated as well.

    Hope this helps.

  • That's good, don't use the challenges so connect directly will do me

    Thanks for the reply

  • No problem. Maybe one more remark to the trainers. I own a kickr6 and I can say it's a really good one, but it is expensive. The wifi option is good, but at least in my setup I had some problems with drop-outs, what is really annoying in a Zwift race. And I don't think anybody needs the perfect simulation for 20% gradient. The accuray of 1% is great , but the kickr core has 2% which is also great. and the core simulates up to 16% gradient. And to prevent drop-outs I highly recommend buying the direct-connection adapter for the wahoo trainer, so you don't need wifi or BT.

There is an offer right now to buy a kickr core including a cassette with one-year zwift membership. I think that's a great deal for the price.

    My two cents...

    Have fun with indoor riding!
