Heart Rate Issue with 965

Once again, issue with my Garmin 965 with rising heart rate on an easy run. I am sorry but when you spend as much money as we do on a watch like this, there needs to be accuracy. Especially since it throws off all the other data and tells you that you are overtraining and should rest. I love the graphics of this watch especially the AMOLED screen, but it is useless to me now and will go back to my Coros watch which I never have a problem with. Sadly, disappointed once again in Garmin as I had a 955 a year ago with similar issues. Would have thought by now it would have been fixed.

Are you using the wrist heart rate or chest

I had called Garmin about a big difference when riding between my wrist mount and the chest mount. The wrist mount was way off. They said there were issues with riding due to holding the handlebars. I had hoped that since moving from the 935 that these issues were addressed. Not the case apparently for biking. For running i use the chest mount. My son uses the 245. He said initially it read well, but now over a year later similar issue of not reading accurately. Did you contact Garmin?

yeah- cannot trust the WHR readings. It seemed to get worse with the latest firmware updates... however, it also got colder. I seem to see a correlation between how cold my arm is and how inaccurate the WHR is. Keep in mind, that the wrist is a notoriously lousy place to try to measure HR. For steady state runs I still use it. Sometimes I need to stop and reposition the watch- and then it does better. But for interval workouts- especially short intervals- I definitely use an external HR monitor.

Was using the wrist heart rate. I do not have this issue with my Coros Pace 2. I returned the watch as I am not spending $550 on a watch that Garmin cannot get its act together. Had the same issue with the 955. What makes matters worse it screw's up your training readiness, etc.

I noticed the same thing. When I first got the watch HR was more in line with my Coros Pace 2. Once the upgrade was done, it started showing my heart rate averaging 160 when I was running at a 9:45 pace which is extremely easy for me. My Coros had me more accurate around 125.

I was considering upgrading my 255 to a 965 but I won't if this HR issue isn't addressed. Has Garmin done anything to fix this?
