Change of Data Fields are Edited/Changed

As default, when in activity with touchsceen enabled, the 'long press to change data screen' is too sensitive, and goes directly into changing the field.  I'll not go into how often this happens aand/or how annoying it is, espcially as the change option doesn't default to the current field, but defaults to 'timer'.

Is there any way to changed the action to change the field from long press, to 'longer press' or something? Or to turn on a 'do you want to edit this field' prompt before diplaying the fields to change it to.

The idea that you can change fields is great, the fact that a bead of sweat or rain can do it for you and it defaults to 'timer' is downright stupid and needs a better option or configurable 'edit field' action. There needs to be a better process/action to stop this happening accidently and changing to timer.

  • I have to say I agree (even though I really like my 965). This is the reason why I've ended up disabling touch for  many of my sports activities.

  • This annoys me constantly. Sweat, my long sleeved sports shirt (synthetic fabric) or even gloves trigger false touches which change my datafields. Especially now that it's winter time here in Finland the watch is always covered with clothes when doing outdoor activities. The clothes touching the screen just mess up my datafields. This really should be fixed!

  • It's a shame you have to fully disable the touch screen during activities. I like the touchscreen during activities for changing screens, they just need to improve how data fields ar changed

  • This often happens to me when I'm cycling, I already thought it was a BUG. And very irritating. I need the touchscreen and wouldn't want to turn it off for that.
The best way, in my opinion, is that when the activity is running, the data fields can only be changed via a paired device (e.g., mobile phone), but not on the watch.

Something should be done about it - and as soon as possible.

  • You don't even have to limit data field editing to the phone. While the activity is running even currently you can edit the data fields by entering the watch menu and there is the section for editing activity's data fields. It's just that Garmin has wanted to provide a "quick" way to edit the data fields on the fly, and that's... a little too quick.

  • Going via settings is an option but it goes from been 'too easy' to accidently change the fields, to 'too hard'. To use the menus is more than 10 button clicks to get in, change and get out. Doing this whist running or cycling....is just asking for an accident to happen.

Surely they could find a quickler way, eg. long press as it is now, but then a prompt comes up with a beep sound saying "change data field" which you have to click through and defaults to 'no'..... or some kind of similar. Meaning you can get to the change data field option quickly, but are not likely to change the field accidently.

The current issue is that one bead of sweat can change the data field displayed, or mulltiple data fields. And they all get set to the timer field because that is the default..... why isn't the default field the current field displayed? that way if the field is accidently changed, then the chances are it'll be changed to what it is currently, therefore no issue.
