Just upgraded to 965 from a Fenix that did not have Backcountry Skiing activity and the 965 manual says there is a "Mode Tracking" feature to automatically detect transitions from uphill to downhill (as opposed to manually using the lap button to mark the transition).
But for the life of me I can't find this feature in the activity settings, or anywhere else.
Does anyone know anything about this? it is almost as if this feature only exists in the manual!!
Just enabled the feature with the new firmware update, and it seems to work fine, although it looks ok in the GC iOS app, but not in GC on the web - it gets the numbers right, but not the charts. (White screenshots = GC Web, black screenshots = GC iOS)

It's an intermittent problem. Sometimes the device gets it right, but more often than not it's incorrect, at least in my experience.
