Fitness level

I have for the past year had fitness level 39 on my Garmin.

It is not moving anywhere.

I used to have 43-52 something.

At the same time as I have 39 on the Garmin my Strava is increasing every week.

I exercise 5 days a week and sometimes I also have two sessions per day.

I do road cycling during the weekend between 50 and 100km at a time.
The other days due to darkness I do body pump, spinning and various strength exercises. All is tracked on my 965.
When it is spring and summer I cycle several times per week.
When cycling I use Edge 1040.

Does anyone else have this issue too?

  • Are you referring to the Vo2max? If so, then cycling doesn’t improve tthis particular performance data without Garmin’s power meter connected with the watch. You can get better scores only if you run with heart rate. There is new score that better for people that doesn’t necessarily run but doing other activities called endurance score

  • It doesn't have to be a Garmin Power Meter, there are several others brands that will work as well...

But Yes, some power meter is needed on the bike to track vo2max and FTP on a bike.

For running the watch will do, but a heart rate strap is preferable

  • All powermeter will work, cranck based, pedals, single sided and dual. Only need a power reading
