HRM Pro Plus not reporting to Data Fields

For indoor activities where I have GPS disabled, HRM Pro Plus is not reporting data to Data Fields, specifically Distance and Pace. This is the case for all indoor type of activities, where GPS is disabled. I can go outside and launch a Run activity (w/GPS enabled) and HRM Pro Plus reports perfectly. I've added data fields Distance and Pace to the HITT activity but cannot get any data from HRM Pro Plus. I have confirmed it is connected via ANT+.  Any ideas?

  • Have you set the HRM Pro settings for pace and distance (in its sensor settings) to Indoors only (or Always, if you also want to use HRM Pro pace/distance for outdoor activities)?

  • Thanks.  Yes, I have confirmed sensor's settings are indoor pace/distance. What's odd is that it reports pace and distance perfectly to the Pace and Distance fields in the "Treadmill" activity (indoor/GPS disabled), however, it will not report data to same Pace and Distance fields in the HIIT activity.

  • You may contact Garmin support to verify this, but based on what you told, could it simply be that HIIT activity doesn't support distance/pace tracking? After all, that's not something you are usually interested in when you do traditional HIIT...

Have you tried an indoor activity where distance is normally of interest, like treadmill running?

  • Thats kinda what I'm thinking as well...HIIT activity just may not support those fields. I had assumed that because I could add them as custom data fields within the HIIT activity layout, they would be supported. Agree, typically Pace and Distance data isn't traditionally a concern within an HIIT workout.  However, For my specific case, an HIIT element is only portion of a more Functional Fitness type of activity/workout where I also incorporate running components. Pace and Distance fields do work perfectly within the Treadmill.  Too bad there's not a "Functional Fitness" activity selection. My concern with modifying the Treadmill activity is that I do not want GC to think I'm performing a Running activity and adversely skew my Running physiological data, specifically VO2.
