Why is FR 965 PacePro screen static, and not updating during an activity?

On my Forerunner 965, even after updating to firmware version 16.17:

I start PacePro activity like this (I've translated the selected menu items from my native language)

1 - Button Start > choose a running activity
2 - Button Menu > Training > PacePro-plans > choose a plan > Use plan > activate course navigation = no

Tempo and distance for the first split shows, but the distance doesn't change when i start moving - it is constant 2.91. "Totalt foran" (Overall ahead) does not change either, it is constant "0:00". The only field that do change on the PacePro screen is "Rundetid, tempo" (Split pace) showing my current pace.

Youtube videos I have found shows that distance and Overall Ahead should update when the activity is started, but that does not happen on my FR 965.

Anyone else that has experienced this? Or do I do something wrong?

Edit
: This afternoon I started the PacePro strategy anyway, just because I had observed that there were some activity recordings around this feature and wanted to at least see what that looked like. And believe it or not, after half a km or so the PacePro screen started working! Maybe it was the extra restart of the FR965 I took just before starting the activity, or maybe the feature needed a few minutes or some initial distance to start, who knows. It's good to know this feature works, although to my race day last month, I made my own improved CIQ PacePro pacer page with energy station ahead notices and elevation which I will be using for my next race too.
FR 965 static PacePro screen
  • Did you by chance get the new software release today? It has a fix for the PacePro screen freezing.

  • Yes, version 16.17 as stated. The screen freeze seems to be another issue, but it is related to the PacePro feature. And fortunately, as I wrote in the edit comment, this also seems to fix the issue I had. Even though it took some hundred meters before the PacePro started updating.

  • Having the same issue with mine with the updated code to 16.17. Any ideas on how to fix it

  • It fixed itself in my case. But I did turn the FR965 off, and then on again just before i started the activity, and I started the activity at the same GPS position as the start of the route that I created the PacePro strategy for. Leave the PacePro running, even If you don't see the PacePro fields updating on the watch screen - it may start updating after several hundred meters. After finishing the activity and uploading it to Garmin Connect, check if there is a graph of something related to PacePro. It should be, even if the PacePro screen on the watch doesn't update during the activity.
