Suggest for Race Prediction Time add pages with Pace and Speed

The Race Predictor shows the Predicted Finish Time and a Graph of the last 4 weeks. There is a Page for each of the 4 distances 5k, 10k, HM, Marathon that are cycled with the Start button. Example 5k below from manual:

I would like to see 4 more pages added that below the Predicted Time show the Pace and Speed as shown in the mockup below.

That would help me understand the Finish Time better. It also helps a lot when I want to run that Pace at another Distance. Or just test out that Pace with some Strides, for that I need the Pace or on a TM the Speed. If I am going to run a 15k I may want to try it at my HM or Marathon Predicted Race PACE not time. When I get a suggested workout Pace it's nice to know how it compares to my Predicted Race Pace. Currently I constantly have to take Race Time and convert it into Pace using another APP, or starting a PacePro Plan will calc pace.

I am trying to learn to use Pace but I am more used to Treadmill so I tend to more easily understand MPH Speed, hence I would prefer to see Speed and Pace. For running 5k and 10k races I like to see that Pace in KM because I want to know K pace as there will be markers at each kilometer. Knowing 5 or 10 time checks is better than just 3 or 6 mile checks. Since there is so much room I would put Pace plus Speed in Miles and KM as I mocked up below:

Again these would be 4 new pages and not replace the existing graph pages.

There is also plenty of room on the Garmin Connect Race Predictor page to add Pace and Speed.

Personal Records in Garmin Connect shows my best time for 5k, 10k, HM and others. That would be another place it would helpful to have it also show Pace and Speed. There us a lot of room across the page.

I think there is a specific page for suggestions. I post this here for discussion of the idea and suggestions by others. I know some Garmin staffers frequent here and may see it. These seem like pretty easy numbers to calculate, understand and are used by everyone, so it seems like something Garmin would add.

  • I like this idea!

idk if you're on Android or iOS, but there's a great pace/speed calculator for iOS called Pacey: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/pacey-running-jogging-and-walking-pace-calculator/id932937393

I especially like it as a Canadian who measures most running-related stuff in m/km, because it allows you to easily switch/mix units (km and miles). This is helpful for me since some race/training distances are in miles (e.g. 1 mile, 10 miles, etc.)

It also allows you to fix one of the three metrics (time, distance, pace/speed) so you can change a 2nd metric and see how it affects the third metric. e.g. You can fix distance at 10 km, then change time to see how pace changes, or change pace to see how time changes. Or you could fix your pace at 10:00 / mile and see what your finish time would be for various race distances.

It also has both pace and speed, so you can easily convert between the two (you're also able to mix units here, so you can convert min/km to mph, for example).

And it does allow you to calculate race splits (either in km or miles).

I think there is a specific page for suggestions. I post this here for discussion of the idea and suggestions by others

This is why I wish Garmin's ideas page was more like the Spotify community ideas page, where ideas are public, members of the community can vote on ideas and discuss them, and employees can give you feedback on the status of your idea.

Instead it's just a one-off form with no way to know if anyone else has the same idea or if anyone at Garmin has even seen it.

Yes, I submitted this idea to the Garmin ideas page, even though I don't expect it to happen.

  • I'm on Android. I use the "Running Calculator" App by BK Running Fast. I like it a lot. It shows Pace and Speed. You can solve for any 1 variable given there others: Distance, Time, Pace, Speed. It has a bunch of other features. I recommend it.
