Display Glitch on Forerunner 965 During Runs

Dear Garmin Support,

I have a new Forerunner 965 model, and there's an inconvenient software glitch I've noticed. When in activity recording mode, if the always-on display is turned off, the watch becomes quite difficult to use while I'm running. Specifically, when I raise my wrist, the watch does illuminate the display as expected, but when I try to scroll (using the buttons on the device) through screens, it starts to turn the display on and off erratically. It would be highly beneficial if a firmware update could be made that ensures the screen remains on once I raise my wrist and begin interacting with the device buttons.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Best regards.

  • I also have the same issue with my Forerunner 965 model. While using it in activity recording mode with the always-on display turned off, I encounter a similar inconvenience. When I raise my wrist to interact with the device buttons, the display behaves erratically, turning on and off unpredictably. This problem indeed hinders the usability of the watch during my workouts.

I would appreciate it if you could include my observations in your considerations and explore the possibility of addressing this issue in future firmware updates.

Thank you for looking into this matter.

  • I have the same problem when I run, let's hope for a quick solution.
