Is it worth the battery drain to always have the 965 searching for the hrm pro plus? Or should i have it off and only connect when ready to use the chest strap?

I agree with all your points except for
"a Garmin device only searches when needed, when you open an activity app or a glance"
Ive already paired my 965 with hrm pro plus. Ive taken it off and and under sensors and accessories it stays under searching status. Just to clarify, it literally says searching when on the sensors and accessories page, just ubder the auto detect, which ive turned off after pairing
It searches because you have gone to that part of Settings so it is searching to connect to the HRM so that you can adjust the settings that require it to be connected to do so. There are certain settings that can only be chnages when the HRM is connected hence why it is doing this. Whilst not certain, I doubt it keeps searching when you are out of this setting area , well I have never noticed a large battery drain due to that anyway.
Yeah as I saved I saw yours ... :-)
