Treadmill accuracy

Today I did a treadmill workout. Weather was awful and I didn’t want to get wet.

I have done some 10 -15 minute runs before and all was well.  However………

Today I did 45 minute run at 6.4mph (9.20 per mile pace). Pace was a little low, then a little high and then at around 15 mins it went into la la land, around 11.20 per mile.  Speed on the treadmill was constant.

It seemed like after 15 mins the watch gave up and reported rubbish.  The pic shows issue.  The overall pace is only correct as I calibrated the watch at the end of the run.

Never had this before with any garmin watch I have owned. I understand the treadmil is likely inaccurate but at a constant pace it’s odd for the watch to fail at 15 minutes in.

Hopefully it’s a one off.

  • Might help things if you switch from Smart Recording to Every Second.

The change in pace likely has more.to.do with your arm carry. If you changed the height or length of your swing.

I'd also take a glance at your cadence - is it also showing a drop or does it remain approximately stable throughout?

  • I have every second recording though I think that’s more to do with gps. Could be wrong, either way it’s every second.

I did think it could be arm carry, that said cadence is pretty much fine.  That random high measurement is when I went tippy toes and quick as I thought the pace was stuck on 11.20.
