OLED quality and Watch Faces

Hi,

I‘m currently considering buying a 965 - if the watch faces weren‘t that ugly.

I had a 945 and am currently using an Apple Watch. While the Garmin is a better Sports watch, the watch faces are mediocre.

I was hoping that with the OLED display on the 965 the watch faces would be on par with the Apple watch but what I have seen so far (stock and store) is just the old stuff, maybe a bit better looking but still nothing really nice (in my view).

Is there a technical reason for that? The display resolution should allow for that or shouldn’t it?

I guess it depends what you are used to. Most Apple Watches I have seen don’t have anything I would call high end. That said we all like different stuff.

I will agree that there is quite a lot of watch faces that are designed for thr MIP displays that don’t make use of the amoled. That said there are others that prioritise data of looks.

for reference this garmin one looks pretty nice. Pity it’s not animated but hey ho.

Thanks. Unfortunately it did not contain the data fields I find most useful though.

I don’t mind to switch to a different one when exercising. But when not, I‘d love to have a nice looking analog display - so this might do the job

Completely agree - the current stock watch faces are a major disappointment on the forerunners in general, but especially on the AMOLED devices.

I suppose a lot of design resources go to the more expensive devices like the Marq.

I like the stock ones but if you search Garmin developed watch faces. There are plenty of nice ones.
