I am traveling and FR965 can't quite seem to get the time zone correct

In Mexico for a week in Todos Santos (GMT-7) from New York (GMT-4), which is a three-hour difference.

FR965 is set to set time zone automatically in settings, and I've definitely clicked the "Sync With GPS" multiple times, but the time keeps setting to an hour ahead of what is correct (it's actually 7:45 AM while I am posting this, but the watch says 8:45 AM).

If I restart the watch, it does show correct time for a while, but then it reverts to an hour ahead automatically.

What's going on, Garmin? Bug or defect in my watch?

  • Sounds like it might be a DST issue.  Garmin devices with GPS (including car nav system) get a file called tzmap a couple times a year.  In the past with other devices that file wasn't always coming through from the phone (it is a big file), and syncing with Garmin Express was more reliable for getting the file.  Can you try that?

  • Thanks for the advice, will try and report back (after my Father’s Day run!)

  • tzmap is how the GPS time gets converted to local time, based on the gps location and date.  The data for a location starting/stopping DST changes

  • Didn't work! Was correct for a little and now it's an hour ahead again. I have an Epix 2 here as well, and the time is correct, so it's not where I am, in terms of troubleshooting.
