Use Case question - How do you...?

I have had my 965 for about a month now, and I'm still getting use to the menus which are a little different from the 945I had previously.

I can't seem to figure out how to do the following:

In an activity (such as running, or hiking, etc), how do you view the standard watch face?  There is a data field that has the basic time, but it's not my watch face (which incidentally is the default 965 watch face).  I can't seem to find how to "exit out" to the watch face while in an activity?

Sometimes it just happens, if I encounter a bug or the watch freezes on an activity (as it did this morning when I tried to access my Amazon music playlist)...the watch will show the regular watch face, causing a moment of panic thinking my activity recording was lost, but hitting the "start" button goes right back into the activity again.  That whole process is concerning, but that's not the point of this post.

  • I have set a hotkey to take back to watch face.

  • Thank you, is it not possible to navigate to the watchface using standard menus?

  • Not from an activity as far as I know ..

  • If it's anything like 945 LTE you could use

Hold LIGHT > Stopwatch > UP > Go to watchface

but setting a hotkey seems more efficient.

  • On the fenix 7X I had previously when you pressed and held the Lap but it would take you back to the watch face during an Activity.

I cant remember for sure but I think this was not setup by default on the 965, so I just configured the Lap button in the Hot Key settings to do the same thing, and it works.

Holding the Down button takes you to the Music controls which I think was already configured.

  • Yeah you need to add this hotkey with the 965. No longer a default key like with the Fenix line.

Just to note, I had issues with my gesture/backlight settings being forgotten when hotkeying out to the watch face during a run then going back to the data fields. It seemed to adopt my non-activity gesture/backlight choices when doing this (which are different to my in-activity choices). With gesture off (my non-activity setting) I could no longer see my data fields!

I don't know if they've fixed this. I'm too scared to try it now!
