Focus load advice is so... funny

I'm an endurance runner and my training is mainly long runs and shorter intervals. But no sprinting.

Now Garmin says my focus load is all wrong. My anaerobe workouts are way to low.

Strange thing is, Garmin then advices me to add more aerobe workouts to my mix to make my training more balanced.

Really?

Not a big issue. focus load is kinda bs. But garmin should be at least consistent in their bs.

  • There are three categories: Anaerobic, High Aerobic and Low Aerobic.

Sounds like you could be lacking in the first and the last, like me, since I have only done tempo runs and cycles so far.

  • Please read carefully.

Garmin says anaerobe is to low. I should add more aerobe to the training load.

(and I know a thing or 2 about training and training load)

  • I am reading carefully but you are not writing clearly. You can be deficient in both anaerobic AND low aerobic.

My low aerobic load (26) is lower than anaerobic load (136), both are sub-optimal. Recommendation from the watch is for more low aerobic exercises.

  • Ok.

Garmin tells me I'm only deficient in anaerobic. Both versions of aerobic (high and low) are fine. (to give you numbers, anearobic 33. well below the box. high aeroob, 847, in the upper part of the range, low aeroob 632, in the upper part of the range. )

Garmin tells me to increase my anearobic. And to do so I should add more aerobic to my training.

I never said garmin told me more than one kind of training was wrong, because there isn't. Don't put your own situation over that of others.

  • Please show some photos for confirmation/bug reporting

  • garmin support has the photo's.But if you don't believe me, here they are.  It's in Dutch. That would be no problem for you. won't it?

  • Unfortunately, it is somewhat a problem for an English language forum but you can help everyone out by doing some translation.

Based on the photos, Garmin is recommending anaerobic exercise for you on both the photos?

Again, you can't expect people to understand Dutch on an English language forum.

  • The translation is in the opening post.

Really! If you wouldn't  assume I was totally wrong, thing would be a lot easier.

    Ok.

In the first image, as I said before, multiple times, Garmin tells me I don't do enough anaeroob excersice and to fix that I should add aeroob excersice to the mix. Here there is a huge contradiction.

The second image is just there to show you your assumptions are wrong. In my case only 1 kind of training is out of range. (well, garmin thinks it's out of range) (do note, that the text in the second image is correct, to few anaeroob and to fix that do more anaeroob. Only the text in the first image is wrong)

  • I see what you mean, Garmin's recommendation to do more aerobic exercises to increase your anaerobic load does not make any sense. It looks like a simple typo to me; it should be: do more anaerobic exercises to increase your anaerobic load.

Having said that, it would have been a lot clearer if you had uploaded your screenshot with your original post.

  • To be honest, it would have been more clear if you wouldn't assume your situation were 2 kind of focusses where out of range would also apply to my situation. Or at least ask it stead of assume.

And, right right, it's probably only a text thing, and maybe even an translate thing.
