HRV Question - Coming from Fenix 6 Pro - HRV has dropped

Hello,

Loving my forerunner 965 - the AMOLED screen has been a game changer coming from Fenix 6 Pro.

I need a steer relating to my HRV Data. I Understand HRV data is very personal and tied to the individual, but what I'm not understanding is how can my HRV drop considerably since switching over from Fenix 6 Pro.

See the image below, I've pulled the HRV data from 2nd April to today & then overlayed it with which device recorded what.

Any ideas? - not sure if its fit related, I'm wearing it snug and above the wrist bone.

thanks!

  • Same here, coming from 955; I was stable at around 58 60...now, since I moved to 965, my hrv dropped at 40 42, which is below the "balanced" threshold

  • Mine is fairly consistent but I have noticed that if wear my Fenix 7 on my right wrist and my 965 on my left, both watches report very different sleep tracking results, HRV and even resting HR. I have seen 5ms overnight HRV variances routinely reported between devices at times.

So I would treat this as somewhat interesting data but not take it too seriously if HRV and resting HR is different between watches - this is not subjective data. It is relying on an optical sensor which is one of the least ideal ways to get accurate R-R interval measurementa.

  • Another data point:

I switched from 955 to 965 about a week ago.  HRV seems to be pretty much the same and stable since then.

  • Same here from 955 to 965 same and stable.

  • Wore 965 and Epix on the other wrist and different HRV depending on which watch - maybe because they tracked sleep differently?
