Bugs / Differences after a week ownership of the FR965 compared to the epix Gen 2

Had my epix over a year, and my forerunner 965 for a week, this is the difference I found, so far that stood out.

  • Torch:. When going to the torch, it always goes to the 2nd brightness setting. On the epix ot would go the last brightness level
  • Torch: cannot quit out of torch by holding your hand over the screen, on the epix this works
  • Garmin Pay: when you purchase an item, it quits out of the card screen. On the epix it stays there until you quit out
  • Always on display: Done three night trail runs so far, have the screen to always on for activities, yet it still goes to a blank / black screen. Having to tap the sreen or do a gesture for it to come back. Update Tried again last night and thsi time display did not turn off (which is expected) checked previous runs and they weren't during my Sleep settings.
  • Buttons: Not as tactile as the epix, still has a click, but softer
  • Audio: from watch the beeps are quieter than the epix.
  • Audio: from headphones, very average, base distorts, the callouts distort. Compared to the epix, the epix audio is a lot better (using Shokz Open Rup Pro)
  • Altitude calibration: I find setting the Altimeter on Manual, and auto calibrate at night more accurate. On the epix when starting an event, it would self-calibrate, and ask you of ok and give you the current altitude (where you can accept or re-calibrate) on the (965, the same setting it says it does this, but form practice it never does.
  • New Bug, when I was navigating a course last night, with touch enabled, the touch to zoom or move the map did not work, the zoom buttons were also not showing. Only has happened the once so far

  • Yes you get to weather glance . Different watch faces than Epix

  • Actually thought about this..
I'll check tonight, going to do a night run, that is definitely not during my sleep window so will report back and update

  • Forerunner 965, purely based on the Bigger Screen,,,
I usually have to run with glasses, so the screen really helps being bigger.
Even without glasses I can still make out mostly all the details...

  • Not sure what the Temp watchface is.
But the current watch face, clicking on the widgets, goes to the correct ones for me.

  • Got my 965 a few hours ago as well, and compared to the Epix there are some (stupid?) differences, I wonder if they will align by updates or if they are what differences the product series...

    -No global satellite settings?

-Not possible to activate battery saver by sleep schedule?

-I thought more data would have been transferred by the new Physio True Up, seems like the 965 have to re-learn my stress values, HRV etc

    -The Epix looked better...

+My aging eyes likes the slightly bigger screen and the not so cluttered fonts.

+The weight, I really never got used to the weight of the Epix in daily use when not wearing it snug, so I'm glad to be back on a Forerunner again.

  • How is the build quality of 965 vs Epix . Cheaper build as Epix has sapphire glass ?

  • Can’t comment on that, I went for the non saphire model of Epix to get less reflections.

  • I am in the process of selling my epix and I keep having second thoughts but the screen on the 965 is so much easier to read. I have a tiny scratch on my 965 having never scratched a Fenix or Epix ever (I too have the std version). I agree on the physio true up too, frustrating. It is so much lighter and more subtle on my skinny wrists.

  • My 965 seems to have a bug in the graphs for steps and stairs (I've worn the 965 since mid day...)

  • It might be you need to give it 24 hours. Do you think the satellite differences will be a big improvement on the Epix?
