Navigation re route.

I own an edge 830 and it's not unfair to describe the navigation reroute ability of this unit as pants. It's an issue that Garmin only significantly improved on the edge units from the 1030+ onwards.

Anywho....has anyone tested the navigation reroute functionality on the FR 965 yet? I'm interested to know if, when following a course and you miss your turning...does the 965 sensibly reroute you back on the original course at a point ahead of you or does it insist on the old 'Make a u turn' ?

Thanks.

  • Well...I tested this today and the answer is..it doesn't.

  • Not true, it does…but only on courses it generates. So for example, today I ran in Belfast. Never been here before ran out 4.5k and started to run back…wasn’t sure where I was going so generated a course to guide me back to the hotel. Path I was on was closed so had to divert. A little bit of beeping and complaining from the watch later, it resolved it’s inner demons and showed me a new route.

I think it doesn’t do it for imported routes from Strava or the app, but if you generate a route on the watch it will re direct.

  • Good to know...thanks for clarifying Thumbsup
