Runna workout no longer showing up as today's workout on FR955

I've been using Runna for a few months.

I paused a Garmin Coach plan I had running for a race at the beginning of December, and let Runna take over.  When I selected a run workout I was prompted to do the Runna workout.

I now have a Runna plan for another race, and until recently (last week, I'd say), I had Runna daily suggestions when I selected a run. I now get Garmin daily suggestions. However, if I dismiss those and select training>workouts from within the run activity, I can find a load of Runna workouts, including the one for today (and confusingly the one for the previous race with a very similar name). So they sync to the watch, but don't show up as the main suggestion. I may try pausing Garmin daily suggestions...

This is similar to the case reported in an FB Garmin Forum: https://www.facebook.com/groups/garminforum/posts/2668839766809274/

  • Interestingly I had a Garmin Connect calendar workout of a parkrun this morning (set up a couple of weeks ago, last year). It didn't appear in the Android app front page this morning, and the watch didn't offer it, offering a daily suggestion instead.

I had that class of activity already set up in Training, so it was just a matter of selecting that on the watch. A mild irritation but a curious occurrence.

The workout I set in the calendar yesterday just before I did it yesterday did show up and did work.

  • The Runna workouts are back, both as the daily "suggested" workout in the morning report, and when I start a run activity.
    I did two things:
    - I accepted a new (slower) pace recommendation in the Runna app, and hot an updated plan; and
    - I added two B races, and got an updated plan (two more times).
Maybe it's the mere fact of updating the plan that "refreshes" Garmin's view of 3rd party workouts?

  • I wonder whether 3rd party workouts go stale, and although they're in the calendar don't trigger being offered as the daily workout?
