FR955 Solar FW 26.08: Bluetooth Pairing Issue with Wahoo Trackr HR Sensor

Dear all,

I am experiencing a reproducible issue with the Bluetooth pairing of my Wahoo Trackr HR sensor after updating to firmware version 26.08.

Detailed Error Description:

  1. Status Before Update: Pairing and using the TICKR via Bluetooth (BT) worked flawlessly with the previous firmware (e.g., 25.XX).

  2. Current State: Since updating to 26.08, it is no longer possible to add the Wahoo TICKR via Bluetooth to the sensor list. The watch finds the sensor, but the pairing process either aborts or ends with the message "Pairing failed."

  3. ANT+ Functionality: Pairing via ANT+ continues to work without problems and is currently being used as a workaround. This rules out a defect in the TICKR sensor itself.

  4. Exclusion of Conflicts: The TICKR is not connected to any other devices (smartphone, tablet, etc.).

Troubleshooting Steps Taken:

  • Removed the sensor from the watch ("Remove").

  • Soft-reset the TICKR's Bluetooth by removing and reinserting the battery.

  • Performed a soft-reset of the Forerunner 955 (power cycle).

  • Attempted to pair the sensor multiple times via the "Add New" function.

Has anyone else noticed similar issues with third-party sensors (Wahoo, Polar, etc.) after this update? I would appreciate a quick solution or a hotfix from Garmin!

    I have just bought a Wahoo Trackr chest strap and have the same issue with my 955.  Also the same with my Polar H10.

     

    My optical HRM the Polar OH1 connects but very slowly and sometimes times out, so not a great update.  For comparison I also have a Polar Pacer Pro and connects to all 3 HRM's immediately on BLE.

    Recently I paired a couple of old (> 10 years) sensors (Wahoo cadence, Scosche Rhythm) to my FR955 (SW 27.08, beta), both were quicker to pair via BLE than ANT+. I only use the ANT+ connections though, don't know how well BLE works. I'll try adding my currently unused Polar H10 as weel, if it does not work, I'll report it here.

    Hi Martin,

    many thanks for sharing all the details. I did not contact support yet. Yesterday, I started to run an application on my Edge 1040 which relies on BLE to connect to my Wahoo HRM. And it worked with the lates software version. I will retest it with my watch and my Edge and the same Wahoo HRM to see if it is solved now.

    Re-tested my Polar H10's & OH1 and all worked connecting quite quickly.  Not sure if it's related to me updating the firmware to version 26.08 or just that the Bluetooth subsystem has woken up now.  However the Wahoo Trackr is still failing to pair but gets detected showing the BLE address.  It connected fine to my Polar watch so the device is working.

    Gave it a try today too but no luck. ANT+ works without any issues but BL connection fails with my Wahoo TrackrHR.

    Hi all,

     

    Continuing with my testing I've discovered that the Garmin will pair with my Polar H10 on BLE which has the capability of connecting to two devices at the same time, however I have found that it somehow prevents further connections as my Polar Pacer Pro cannot connect whilst the Garmin has it.  So think maybe it's something to do with managing the multiple connections where it's failing.
