Since firmware 18.xx, the navigation position arrow often locks onto the planned route, even when my actual GPS position and the recorded track show I am several meters off-course. This continues for several kilometers before the arrow finally updates to the actual location. The issue was claimed resolved in the 19.xx beta, but it still affects devices running 24.12 firmware. Discussed (and closed as "fixed") here:
forums.garmin.com/.../navigation-issue-following-a-planned-route
Steps to Reproduce:
Load a planned route and start navigation with "Lock on Road" toggled off.
Move several meters off the course (e.g., on a trail parallel to road).
Observe that the arrow remains fixed on the route for several kilometers, while recorded track accurately follows actual position.
Expected:
Navigation arrow should reflect real-world GPS position immediately, not force snap to route.
Observed:
Arrow snaps to route line regardless of “lock on road” setting, with delayed correction.
Device:
Forerunner 955 (Solar or standard), System version 24.12 (latest stable)
