Losing patience with 23.20 update

When I first got the 23.20 update everything broke - HR sensor, steps, wifi, sounds/vibation.
Nothing helped and local Garmin support suggested Full factory reset. That helped, but all the setting were lost. Very annoying.

Now, after 3 weeks, the bugs are appearing again - multiple times a day asks for 1min update Installation, reboots unexpectedly, lagging during activity, loosing GPS when navigation on.

It's all bad!

Garmin used to be a reliable brand with reliable devices.

In couple years, it has gone to total ***!

  • Did you turn on backups before doing the factory reset?

And definitely get back to Garmin Support. You may have a faulty watch.

  • The device is not the problem. Had been using it for 3 years. Faulty software is the issue.

  • Faulty software is the issue

So, why do a lot of people, including me, have none of the problems that you describe above?
Really, 23.20 is a fine and smooth SW version on my FR955 - I do not say it has NO bugs, but definitely not the ones you describe.

    Sorry, that proves nothing.
If you read this forum carefully, you will see, that after EVERY SINGLE UPDATE *some* people have problems kind of you describe.
In my opinion, that only proves, that in the PROCESS of updating, something can fail.
Lately, there have also been some threads where people had problems and the basic issue seemed to be a faulty flash memory controller in the watch. So in other words, hardware failure - and of course that may happen any time, must not be there right from the start.

So like  I would suggest, you contact support.garmin.com again. Probably you will need a replacement unit.
The software version 23.20 is NOT the root cause.

  • I'm having all the same issues and honestly going a bit crazy over this - can't believe bricking a 500€ device that is only a few years old is not seriously adressed by Garmin.

  • OK - I found the solution since I replied - you need to try this.

Put your watch in the fridge or freezer while reinstalling the update (you can do that by accessing a "hidden menu", press the "Light" button 8 times while in the watch information menu).

Sounds crazy but I've seen this on reddit and it worked right away for me.
