Hi team,
I'm running a Forerunner 955 with a HRM-Pro chest strap. The chest strap is well-calibrated, both on my current watch and my previous Forerunner 745.
I've noticed that there's a divergence between getting pace & distance data from the chest strap between the indoor walk/run activities, and indoor sports activities (in particular, squash and field hockey):
- For my last squash session, I was wearing the 955 and the chest strap, and it gave me a ridiculously low distance (something like 0.02 km) from the 'Squash' activity. The last squash session I recorded on the 745 with the chest strap (calling it indoor 'Tennis') was more like 2 km.
- For my last indoor hockey match, I was wearing the chest strap only while using the 'Field Hockey' profile, and as far as the activity was concerned, I did absolutely no movement (I can't wear the watch during a game, so I left it on the bench). However, the watch is definitely getting data from the chest strap - it tracked my heart rate successfully, and looking at my steps for the day, it clearly picked up all the steps I did during the game. Back when I had my 745, I used the 'Indoor Run' to track these games, and that managed the pace/distance from the chest strap just fine.
- The same day as I played my last indoor hockey match, I also refereed a different game, using the 'Indoor Walk' profile, the watch and the chest strap. That gave me distance and pace information just fine.
- The 955 + HRM-Pro combo does a good job of keeping track of pace and distance on a treadmill under the 'Treadmill' profile.
I've checked, and:
- Both my 955 and HRM-Pro are running the latest available firmware;
- In Sensors & Accessories on my 955, the HRM-Pro is set to provide distance and pace information on Indoor activities.
Is there something I can do to tell the watch to use the HRM-Pro distance and pace data on the indoor sport (non-run/walk) activities?
