Watch shows 4-o'clock after an activity.

After saving an activity the minute hand of the watch sticks at 12 and the hour hand a 4.  I have to open glances or settings and then revert back to the watch face to show the correct time.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?  And if so under what circumstances?

  • It would be interesting to see if it's 4 o'clock for everyone. I'm in the UK, so I'll have the same result as PubBike.

This smacks of an uninitialized variable in the clock face code.

  • I have now reproduced this.  Up until 1 minute past the hour returning from another screen back to the watch face shows the minute hand at 12 o'clock and the hour hand at 4 o'clock.

  • I contacted support and they told me that they are aware of the problem.  They also told me that the have added my details to the open case and will contact me when a fix is available.

  • Seems to be in beta at the moment?

    Change Log 24.07:

    • Fix an issue with device reverting to watchface in glance list.
  • This is still an issue in 24.12.

It occurs at the end of activity but also during an activity.   I accessed the watch face whilst doing a walk a couple of days ago and unfortunately for me it was on the hour so the watch showed 4 o'clock.

For something that can only happen 1 minute out of every 60 I seem to encounter it very frequently.

  • I sent Garmin Product support a video of this problem.  Then they told me they wouldn't continue to investigate unless I showed it happening on another watch face!

But they hadn't investigated anything.  They were asking me to do their investigation for them.

Product support is trying (and succeeding in some cases) to outsource all its investigation work to their customers.

Wow, this is almost unreal.  3 months ago you started this thread, and Garmin still can't be bothered? Rolling eyes

Think about it....They sell you a WATCH.  The watch consistently displays the WRONG TIME.  And they seem to have zero motivation to fix it?

How much should we trust any of these other metrics on Garmin watches?  Should I believe what it says for my speed, HR, V02Max. etc when it can't even tell the time accurately?

  • Final response from Joshua at Garmin Product Support:

"After review we have determined that due to the age of this device and its software, we will not be able to address this particular issue. We will keep an eye out for this behaviour on future wearable devices. Since this behaviour only occurs under very specific circumstances and corrects itself within 60 seconds, this should not have any negative effect on the performance of your Forerunner 955. We apologize for any inconvenience."

If you have this problem please report it to Garmin Product Support to get it back on their to do list.

  • I have found another instance where this occurs.   If unplugging from a computer etc. on the hour the watch shows 4 o'clock.
