As a software engineer this really was some top notch troubleshooting / upselling..... After reseting the watch once and seeing the issue was still a problem even without the extra watch face, let's sell a refurb model....
Bailey: Alright we can exchange it out of warranty if you'd like with a service fee associated with that? Let me know if you'd like to get a quote on that and proceed.
Ken Davidson: So you think its the watch itself instead of the software update?
Ken Davidson: I'm not the biggest fan of a service fee for something that I'm fairly confident was due to the update that I cannot roll back.
Bailey: I don't think it's software. If it was, it's caused by your watch face or additional downloads. In which case you can factory reset it once more. If it was software, everyone would be having this issue and nobody is. I'm sorry, if you'd like to factory reset it again, that appeared to work yesterday. Do not download anything else to the watch. Then you can wait until our next software release if you'd like to try that. Until then, you may have a slow watch or you're welcome to purchase a recertified one out of warranty.
Ken Davidson: I factory reset it last night with Karsyn, and it was the same slowness after the reset before I installed the watch face.
Ken Davidson: I'm glad to factory reset it again, if you think that the watch face was the problem
Bailey: I understand, if you believe it's software you would have to wait until the next software release or beta release. I do not think it's software but if you do, you'd see a fix in the next roll out. Won't be longer than a few months for software. >Enrolling in and Learning About Garmin Beta Software Program
Ken Davidson: I'm already enrolled in the beta software program
Bailey: There is not beta release right now. But you're welcome to wait for one. Since you are enrolled in the program, you'll be first to try new software.
Ken Davidson: I mean, if you don't think it's a software problem, and you're not opening a bug report for the devs to look into it possibly being a software problem, is a new version likely going to resolve any issues with it?
Bailey: Nobody has had this issue in Garmin. It's not software. I think a replacement watch would definitely resolve the issue, just keep it a clean watch for a week before slowly adding things to it. However if you do not think it's software, again, you can wait for a software release. Bailey: If you do think it's software*
Bailey: A replacement exchange would be $232.00 CAD for a recertified Forerunner of the same. While supplies last. We only have a few left. If you'd like to sit and wait for software, that's an option as well. If you wait, I would delete data and reset settings on the watch, and get it readded. Don't add anything to the watch for a couple weeks to try it out.
Ken Davidson: Ya, I'm not interested in throwing 232 at something I'm pretty sure is a software issue, since even after the factory reset with no additional software it's happening. I guess I'll suffer through the slowness and hope it magically resolves itself after another patch.
