Track run workout - pace and distance automatically "smoothing" in Connect?

I completed a track workout today: 6 x 90s / 12 minute threshold / 8 x 45s.

I notice that Connect has "smoothed" the paces and distances run so that they're consistent across the 90s and 45s intervals. I certainly wasn't running bang on these paces (or distances) each rep so interested to know why Garmin has done that? For example, at least some of my 45s reps were quicker than 3.20 pace but Connect has given me 3.25 min/km pace (and 220m) consistently across all 8 reps.

Any ideas?
