How to view the VO2 Max color bar directly on the default watch face?

Hi everyone,

I’m using the Forerunner 955 with the default watch face – the one that shows a carousel of metrics at the bottom (like HR, VO2 Max, Recovery Time, etc).

Last weekend, while checking my VO2 Max, I accidentally triggered a different screen:
Instead of opening the full VO2 Max app, the watch face itself showed a color bar representing the VO2 Max fitness level (with zones like Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent) and a marker showing where my current VO2 Max is within that range — without leaving the watch face.

It was super useful, but now I can’t reproduce it. I've tried single tap, double tap, long press, swiping — nothing brings it back.

Point right Does anyone know exactly how to access that mini VO2 Max summary directly from the watch face?
Or was this a fluke?

Thanks in advance!

  • Well, with the default watch face (the one always present in marketing pictures of FR 955), if you configure the data, you can have VO2Max at the bottom - when i do that, it will be numerical *AND* have a color bar below!

Also there is a different official watchface that I use, where you have the time in the middle (two rows of big numbers for hh and mm, small ss below) and a value with a bar to the left and to the right.
On this, you can also configure data to show VO2Max (no matter if left or right) and will also have numerical value AND color bar.

    Hope that helps.
