Please help me: Turn by turn vibration alerts not working anymore

Hello.

Last year when cycling I was getting turn by turn vibrations through my Forerunner 955 that I purchased for a lot of money. This was quite handy. Now however, I'm getting very annoying voice commands and when I turn them off, I get no alerts at all. How do I enable vibration alerts again for turns?

Thanks in advance

  • This was a change made by Garmin. You have to keep it on.  AFAIK there is no way currently to stop hearing the voice commands short of undoing the phone or headset during this. Its been reported on many forums across many devices since it was introduced a few FW versions ago.

Here is my comment at the time.

At least with the latest beta its not to 3 decimals...

  • I see. That sucks! So basically, when having a smartwatch from Garmin without speakers, you are forced to take your smartphone with you or you get no notifaction at all for turns?

Why would Garmin do such a thing that is objectively a huge downgrade and removes functions that were there before?

    Any idea?

  • I thought it still worked but you have to have the thing turned on , not off as you say here. Haven't tried it recently without my headset and phone though. The best is to close BT connection watch to phone then you wont get sound on phone I guess.

  • I tried it now on my 965 and it vibrates on turns etc perfectly.

The only issue is one cannot stop the sound separately which is annoying if one has a phone or headset connected!

It is not how it should be and the solution is simple but its not implemented...

So we have to do a work around....Unfortunately!

Either put up with the verbal instruction as well, have neither or close Connect on Phone , or disable BT on watch, or run without a phone. All seem to work based on my quick test now.
