This past weekend, I went for my first trail run with headphones, and it turned out I had voice navigation prompts enabled (I had a route loaded). Never mind the fact that finding the option to turn this off is completely nonsensical and illogical — it's not in the voice prompt settings, but buried in the general navigation settings under something called “turn alerts.” I assumed that would disable on-watch alerts, but nope — it actually turns off the voice prompts.

Anyway, I’m genuinely curious: did any Garmin employee get a special bonus for configuring the voice prompts to announce directions with precision down to one-thousandth of a meter?

I now eagerly await a firmware update that reminds me to hydrate every 43.218 seconds, based on sweat loss per square nanometer.

    The menu structure can indeed be a bit illogical but I am convinced that the voice prompts are not announced at a thousandth of a meter, or even a kilometer. What is logical tough, is that the point you are trying to make completely misses the mark because of your way of exaggeration.

    The fact that navigation voice prompts read out numbers with too much accuracy is a bug that was introduced recently. It is said to be fixed in the latest beta firmware (cannot confirm, since I don't use navigation voice prompts).

    Thanks for your response! Of course I was exaggerating for effect — that’s how humor and feedback often work. The core point still stands: the menu structure is counterintuitive, and the voice prompt behavior during a run can be excessive to the point of absurdity. Precision is great — but not when it turns a trail run into a guided audio tour of every bush and bend.

    Came here to post about the exact same issue - it would have been kind of funny, if it wasn't so annoying to hear the distances down to 3 decimal places every time. Happy to hear it is a bug to be fixed
