Forerunner 955 doesn't track heart rate when on Zwift indoor bike

Hello,

when I use the indoor bike my watch stops tracking my heart rate, the function just shuts off and starts again when I end my indoor bike workout. I checked to make sure, that the watch isn't connected to any heart rate monitor (it isn't, there are no devices connected to it apart from the indoor bike). During other activities, such as swimming or running, the watch has no issue tracking my heart rate. Is there a way to fix this?

Thank you

  • Maybe the indoor trainer reports to be also able to broadcast HR data? And thus, the FR 955 switches off the optical HRM?

Just a guess from my side, though.

    What you could try
Best solution anyway (in my opinion) is to use external HR strap for "serious" training. The optical HRM is better with the latest updates, but it has its flaws and glitches. I don't find it reliable enough for workouts (beside casual walking and hiking).
Other thing is, that you could check your settings for "source switching". If activated, it would allow the FR 955 to keep the optical HRM activated and switch to it, if the external HRMs data is of "bad quality". Maybe that would override whatever is happening with your indoor bike.

  • I have had the same problem with the zwift hub.. guess the reason is like Grumpy said is that it (re)broadcasts heartrate.  My workaround was: Set the 955 indoor activity to broadcast the HR, setup my zwift hub so that is uses the 955 as heartrate source.

So my 955 displays the HR from the hub which actually comes from the 955.. kinda backwards but its working for me Slight smile

  • I'll try that, thank you very much!
