Forerunner 955 died

My Forerunner 955 just died last night. I went to bed yesterday evening wearing the watch and everything worked properly. When I woke up this morning the watch had shut down and I'm not able to start it again. The screen is blank and the watch does not respond when I try to press the different buttons. The watch is also not recognized by the Garmin Express app.

  • , I'm very sorry to read that! Here are a few things you can try:

    1. Clean the charging port on the watch and the end of your cable with rubbing alcohol. If you notice any corrosion, try cleaning with a soft bristled toothbrush. If you notice any pins sticking down on the end of the cable, you may need a new one.
    2. Plug your cable into the back of the watch. Then, plug the cable into the computer while holding the upper left button down at the same time. Keep that button held down for at least 45 seconds. If the screen lights up, let go and see if you can use it like normal.

If the watch still won't turn on, please contact Garmin Product Support directly.

  • For those outside the USA, rubbing alcohol is isopropyl alcohol (IPA, propan-2-ol).
