The software updates most frequently seem to be sensor related.
I've noticed it no longer records my sleep.
Thanks

I did not :(.I was also past the thirty days but decided to reach back out to Garmin anyways. They didn't make any fuss about it having been past thirty days though and sent me a replacement.

My watch was doing this for a couple of weeks, it was really confusing, I assumed maybe the updates were failing and I just needed to retry until it succeeded. But eventually something did change: The…
Have you tried the hidden reinstall software option?
System → About
then press the Light button 8 times.
Yes I have! Thanks to these forums (another thread). I should have mentioned. Tried it twice. Same result, both times after the reinstall the software versions hadn't changed. I also tried checking for updates using Garmin Express, unsurprisingly finding nothing.
In that case, I'm afraid you're going to have to contact Garmin Support directly.
Haha, thanks, I've done that too, yet to hear back.
But it started working again today! Not sure what happened, maybe it reinstalled overnight or something. BMX 20.6.0, WHR 20.06.00. Hopefully not speaking too soon.
I recently received a refurbished watch after all the other troubles I've posted about. This new one is having this issue, with it showing 23.20* as the version. And it keeps attempting to re-install every other day. I've tried the nowster method (light 8 times) as well as the full reset (restart holding top left, top right and bottom right) to go from scratch.
In all cases it's still stuck in this loop of not being able to install 23.20 fully, I guess.
This forcing users to update firmware and then not supporting the issue fully is getting to be a bit crazy.
It’s pretty frustrating. Do you know if a full reset wipes all the watch’s data?
I’ve been hesitant to follow some of the advice I’ve seen because I don’t want to risk losing other features.
It’s not a deal-breaker, but my main issue is that Bluetooth can be really slow—or it randomly disconnects my HR strap. I’m guessing it’s all related.
Another update. A day after it started working again (for reasons unknown to me), my watch started prompting me to update software again. But I declined this time and disabled software updates on the watch. I'm feeling a bit nervous about permitting software updates for the next few months.
It's more than likely that you done have 23.20 installed properly and it keeps trying to install that. My watch still shows 23.20* and will not complete so every few days it tries again.
You can't turn off updates all together. Eventually it will try again. Which is sad. If you're going to force updates, you should be responsible for warranties forever.
A * at the end of the version number means that some components have not been correctly updated.
