Buttons get activated when playing golf

When I play golf and swing my club the buttons on my forerunner hit the back of my hand making the golf app completely unusable. Every time I look at my watch it will be on the completely wrong hole and log scores at random.

I have tried wearing my watch on the other wrist and on the underside of my arm and same problem persists. I still have problems when I lock my watch as as soon as I swing or even just move my hand it presses a button and unlocks the watch. This the initiates random activity on my watch again.

All in all, the watch is completely useless in the current design for golf. Any suggestions how to resolve?

  • It's a bit difficult to say without seeing how the watch fits on your arm. Maybe getting a stretchy nylon band and wearing it further up your arm could work.

  • Have you tried locking the screen when not in use? Holding the lap button during workouts or when just on the homepage of the watch locks the screen and the buttons from accidental input.

  • I have this issue even when I lock the screen. As soon as I swing, the buttons press on my wrist and unlock the watch. Then the next time I look at the screen will be on wrong hole etc etc

  • I've tried moving it further up my arm. The reality is as soon as you swing a club the watch slides down the wrist again and ends up back where it's starts.

  • Well, first of all: I don't play golf.

But what I can see here for example https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/847706 shows me, that also the dedicated golf watches like Approach and MARQ have a design with buttons on the right side.
Obviously, that cannot be a complete fail alltogether, because it is like that for some time now. (Personally I at least KNOW somebody who plays golf and has a Forerunner 935)

So that brings me to a question: Are you sure, you wear your FR955 tight enough?
I mean, it should not cut into your arm, but be really snug. Definetively it should not be so loose, that it will go up your arm during swing and hit the back of your hand.

  • Seems your wrist and hand may just be to big for this watch. No offense. I have to forcibly push my hand  against a wall for seconds to get the watch unlocked via my wrist. And it's quite painful. Even when heavy lifting most have not had these issues.
