Yet another watch stuck in boot loop

I was charging my watch this morning. As I disconnected the charger, the watch reset and is now stuck in the dreaded boot loop. I've tried restarting, doing the master reset (it works, I hear the two beeps), but it's still stuck on the boot loop.

I guess there's not much else to try. Any other magical step I could try?

I've already sent an email to support, but the watch is likely not in warranty anymore (bought 2nd hand), so I have low hopes.

Thanks!

edit: I've managed to get it going by doing the factory reset properly. Follow enkaytee's instructions and it seems to work.

edit2: once you've reset, do not go back into a RUN activity or you'll likely get stuck in the boot loop again. Wait for Garmin to update the firmware or somehow revert back to an older version (is this possible?)

Last edit: this appears to be a global issue on multiple watches, 255/265/955/965 both on beta AND stable FW. Garmin is aware and hopefully working on a fix. If you do not use GPS, it shouldn't go in the bootloop... GL everyone.

  • Same issue today after completing a run workout. The watch rebooted and is now stuck in boot loop.

I've done that already (master rest), but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. I hear the two beeps, it turns off and then nothing. It doesn't start again and when I start it manually, it's stuck again in the boot loop.

  • Samme issue here on my 955. I did hard reset and it came back but as soon as I start an activity it starts crashing and rebooting again. Did it several times. I have seen a few have been able to get an activity to start but not for me.

I put a ticket on Garmin but no answer but others seems to have gotten reply that they are looking into it.

  • : I had the same problem. Do this without holding the "light" button while the watch is on the triangle (hold start and lap buttons, then release start when you hear the first beep, release lap when you hear the second beep). Then it should start the reset properly.

  • I am experiencing the same things with you too.

My 955 reboot when I switched it into "RUN" mode.

I think it is a big bug with this fw version. My brother's 955 also face this bug too.

  • try to remove the device in the bluetooth list of your phone. That helps me to reconnect. Unfortunatley was happy for just 1 hour and the bootloop starts again.

  • Thanks a lot, that seems to have worked. Any chance to recover the lost activity?

  • After you factory reset your watch, definitely don't go to activities again.. coz it'll reset it all over again :/

  • Epix pro gen 2 51 - same issue - even after factory reset! stcuk again in the boot loop

  • Nope, it's gone forever. I went for a run without a watch or HR strap this morning, I felt so naked lol.

  • Same on my 955 Solar!
After many reboots I managed to see that I'm on v22.14 which is the latest Beta software...
Thing is that after pairing the device it syncs and shows like I'm not enrolled in Beta, so I can only enroll and not un-enroll, so it "downgrades" to a stable version!
