Yet another watch stuck in boot loop

I was charging my watch this morning. As I disconnected the charger, the watch reset and is now stuck in the dreaded boot loop. I've tried restarting, doing the master reset (it works, I hear the two beeps), but it's still stuck on the boot loop.

I guess there's not much else to try. Any other magical step I could try?

I've already sent an email to support, but the watch is likely not in warranty anymore (bought 2nd hand), so I have low hopes.

edit: I've managed to get it going by doing the factory reset properly. Follow enkaytee's instructions and it seems to work.

edit2: once you've reset, do not go back into a RUN activity or you'll likely get stuck in the boot loop again. Wait for Garmin to update the firmware or somehow revert back to an older version (is this possible?)

Last edit: this appears to be a global issue on multiple watches, 255/265/955/965 both on beta AND stable FW. Garmin is aware and hopefully working on a fix. If you do not use GPS, it shouldn't go in the bootloop... GL everyone.

Happened to me on a 955 and my wife on a 255. Also seeing reports from users with other watches so it looks like a more widespread issue. Needed to do a complete reset - while the blue triangle loop is showing hold both the start and return buttons (right side of the watch) after the first beep release the start and after the second release the return. This completely wipes the watch to factory settings but was the only way out of the loop.

I had the same issue today, still not sure if I can start a new activity, also, there are similar reports on 255 forum.
My watch is on 22.14 and its not finding any update so I think garmin is aware and I hope we can have a fix soon.

That's nice, but I couldn't even update it if I wanted as the watch doesn't even start or connects to Garmin Express! It's properly stuck. Even the factory reset doesn't work (or I'm doing it wrong).

This happened to me about 2 hours ago as well. I went to start a running activity and the watch crashed, getting stuck on the coloured triangle screen. After 20 or so minutes I went for a hard reset via holding down the 3 buttons and releasing as they beep. Now the watch won't connect to Garmin Express or Connect through USB or Bluetooth.

I have the same issue, I was able to get it back working again via the hard reset, but now 1 hour later in bootloop again... Also version 22.14.

Is there a possibility to downgrade to a previous working version?

Same here.

Finished a ride and boot loop before it saved.

Factory reset and all good. For 10-15min and then boot loop again.
