955 SOLAR BASECAMP "there is a problem communicating with device error"

When I plug in my device to basecamp I get an error " there was a problem communications with garmin device forerunner 955 solar, please update the software on the device, communication with the device may continue with reduced functionality please contact garmin customer support for assistance" So naturally I call garmin support and they try and tell me that forerunner 955's don't work with basecamp.....which I know isn't true A) because I own two of these watches and one works with basecamp with no problems B) the error itself says that it should be working and that since it isn't you should contact customer support!!!! I have called multiple times and every person I have talked to is absolutely clueless about the products they sell. Atleast they are helpless in actual clear english....but I digress. SO now I am hoping there is someone in the community that can help. I believe the problem is based in a corruption of my timezone map but am not entirely sure since no one can give me a straight answer. So if you can please help cause this is driving me insane!!!

  • The problem came between 08.2024. and 12.2024.

    In august, I installed an other map with basecamp and mapinstall, but in december I've got this fail message.

    I think, this is a Firmware bug, but I don't know, which Firmware was the first that have this bug.

    The version 21.22 already contained it, and the version 22.18 beta also doesn't work well with basecamp.

  • I just bought what will be my 3rd 955 solar, it is in the mail on its way to me now....I am curious what firmware it'll have and if it will have the same problem as my last 955 solar.....Ill come back here and post either way. 

  • How does it communicate with Basecamp? USB?

    Do you also have Garmin Express installed?

  • In august the communication via USB was fine between FR955 and basecamp, the express was also installed. 

    I also wrote about this problem in the Hungarian Garmin support group, where everyone who tried to connect the FR955 to the basecamp got this error message.
    It would be certain if I could try it with a firmware from last August.

    The communication problem occurs both when express is running and when it is not.

  • Have you had any updates to the Basecamp or Express software since August?

  • Express updated more times.

    I didn't use basecamp between august and december, I only tried, what about the communication, because more user posted about this problem on facebook in december. I don"t know if basecamp got any updates since august, the version was the latest.

    I tried now the followings:

    1. I uninstalled basecamp and express

    2. I installed an older version of basecamp (4.6.2) without express. I connected the watch, but it posted the message.

    3. I installed an older version of express (7.22.1.0), then I synchronized the watch with it, and I launched again the basecamp, but it posted again the message.

  • I installed an old firmware (20.32) and the communication between with basecamp is ok again with older and with latest versions of basecamp and express also.

    So I am 100% sure, that the communication problem exist because a firmware bug.
