Navigation off-course alerts could be a lot better

I use course navigation a lot on my 955. In general the mapping and navigation features have been improving over the last year (with the exception of the annoying spoken audio navigation prompts that can't be turned off) and it's mostly doing the job really well.

I do think the off-course prompts could be a lot better though. I used to have a FR645 which only had breadcrumb trails, but its response to going off course were much better than the FR955 for the following reasons:

1) Precision - On the 645 I would know almost immediately if I had veered off the correct trail. I only had to be off by a few metres. With the 955 I can go several hundred metres before getting an alert. And if I am incorrectly on a parallel track on the opposite side of a river I could go for miles without realising. Given the superior GPS performance of the 955 I would have thought this should if anything be more precise than the 645.

2) Persistence - On the 645 I would get repeated alerts if I went off course. On the 955 I only get one which is too easy to miss. A repeated alert with a button press to acknowledge/cancel the alert would be ideal...

Is it just me? Is it the same on 965/Fenix/Epix?
