Broadcasting HR data from watch to Edge Explore 2

In the watch manual Garmin says:

"You can set up your Forerunner watch to broadcast your heart rate data automatically when you begin an activity. For example, you can broadcast your heart rate data to an Edge bike computer while cycling. NOTE: Broadcasting heart rate data decreases battery life. 1 Press START. 2 Select an activity. 3 Press . 4 Select the activity settings. 5 Select Broadcast Heart Rate. The Forerunner watch starts broadcasting your heart rate data in the background. NOTE: There is no indication that the watch is broadcasting your heart rate data during an activity. 6 Begin the activity (Starting an Activity, page 3). 7 Pair your watch with your compatible device."

But in this case the activity will be run twice. On the watch and on the Edge. Or how should I understand it? The I drop one activity? Or save both and Connect does recognize it as one activity?

  • You do not have to start an activity on the watch in order to broadcast the HR. You can start the HR broadcasting from the Sensors & Accessories menu. You can also add the function to the Controls menu (if it is not already there), or set up a hotkey for it. And if you do start an activity with HR broadcasting on the watch, then you can discard the activity before saving.

Duplicates won't be deleted automatically. At least not in GC up to the recent version. I cannot exclude that merging of concurrent activities will be eventually implemented, since it was already frequently requested, though I would not bet on it.
