Going for a ride wiped out my Garmin Coach run plan

I've been (very) loosely following a Garmin Coach/daily suggested workout plan for a marathon coming up in six weeks.

This morning I went for an Indoor Ride on Zwift, and normally do not use my watch for these but wanted to broadcast my heart rate since my chest HRM wasn't immediately handy.

I did see a recommended ride, basically the same duration as my run and roughly the same effort but as watts instead of HR.

Now, when I go to Garmin Coach, I see that I've completed today's workout and I see no more suggestions for the week. My workout plan effectively appears zeroed out. I don't think I chose Do Workout but maybe I did? My best guess is this somehow got flipped to a cycling plan and now Coach is confused?

  • Yes, it looks like there is something going on with your Garmin Run Coach. For example, you don't have the count down of number of weeks...

I would wait another 14 hours to see how things evolve.

When you go to Connect on the Web, do you still the plan as "active"?

Note there might be some discrepancies between the info on Connect Web and Connect Mobile. For example, for my plan the web version shows a workout today, but today is a programmed rest day, and Connect Mobile shows the same workout tomorrow :-| So don't fret...

Be careful not to delete your existing plan, or modify your event as creating a new one will reset the plan back to "base" periodization phase.

That said, if things don't fix themselves you should call Garmin Support.

Worst case, you could bite the bullet and create a new plan. While going again through "base" and the beginning of "build" might be slightly frustrating, I doubt a reset plan will markedly impair your training.

  • The plan did come back after running yesterday so I guess this is all set?

  • Great! Note that I replace regularly a run with an equivalent bike ride (any type, but typically recovery).

i don’t see what you saw.
