I'm really tired of this. A disgusting story happened today at a trail competition. Just look at the pace and heart rate. The usual heart rate at this rhythm is ~175
I will refuse Garmin in the next season, this is terrible.

Apples ohr and algorithm works remarkably well. I trust it so can leave the strap at home.
The same issue for me since 20.32 update
I have 955 solar, yesterday I went out for a run and after a little over a kilometer I looked at my heart rate, 130 bpm seemed too low for me at that pace, I realized that I had the band off, as soon as…
For recommendation. Always use the chest strap best.
A simple example: You buy a car with heated seats. You need it and you pay money for this additional option. But it does not work as it should and someone advises you to buy an additional heater for the car interior so as not to freeze. Where is the logic?
Same *** from 10 to 14 mins.
I get your frustration and I am also suffering from OHR issues (see my thread https://forums.garmin.com/sports-fitness/running-multisport/f/forerunner-955-series/384760/heart-rate-values-from-optical-hrm-still-totally-wrong-with-20-26 ).
Still he is right. If you need precise HR, never trust an OHR, no matter what they promise you. This has limits and classic straps will always be better and more precise.
Personally, I use HRM strap for sport (running, biking, rowing mainly) and OHR „just“ for lower intensity activities like walking, hiking and for the usual 24/7 stuff.
Of course, Garmin needs to fix the major issues with their (Elevate v4) OHRs, we agree on that.

same problem for me, it was solved a few months ago and now it has come back. random frequency.
