Garmin Coach - Watch vs. Connect App / Web

Connect (web) is telling me today is a rest day, but my watch has a scheduled run / bike workouts... should I follow Connect? Or my watch?

Here's what I'm seeing on the different platforms:

Watch = Anaerobic Run

Connect Web = scheduled rest day

Connect App = Workout - Stay tuned for details

  • I should mention, I don't know where the Bike Workout came from on my watch today - I'm only following a running plan via Garmin Connect

  • You're in control, so do whatever it suits your schedule, the program should accommodate your changes

  • I have Garmin Cycling Coach set up. Today I noticed that my watch shows plans for cycling and running. Connect mobile and web are showing cycling plan is active however schedule for trainings is empty there.
I noticed it today after update to 20.32.

  • Today it works as expected. There is a single plan, schedule is present in the app. I guess it was some server side issue.

  • I have the same observation in recent days.

It has started, when I have travelled to country which was in 1h different Time Zone, but yesterday in the same TZ similar thing happend.

Here you are my screenshots Left 7/11 right 8/11. Sunday is the same day on all pictures.

At the same time GCWeb shows this (from today). The same is in GC Mobile on Android.

This is the same what watch suggested me yesterday.

For the record I did not managed to run yesterday (Base 1h04)

I am not surprised that watch is suggesting me different workouts before and after night sleep, but why this is not copied to GC Web or Mobile?

Garmin-Sierra (53c5dbd7e08d4639b7311dfd91c4ffe8) should I report this in Beta as I am on 21.16 right now? Or this is bug in Connect app.

Another day. It looks like Garmin Coach updates future workouts immediately after complete one, but on GC Mobile or Web it is updated only next day.

I will insert pictures when Forum will be fully functional again

  • Inserting pictures still cause error, hence update without them

I im in CET Time Zone. I have positively verified that workout updates happens at 17:00 each day between watch and GC Mobile / Web. Garmin Coach workouts are synced from Watch to the "cloud"

It can be even after two updates on the Watch. I mean it is eg Saturday after 17:00 when I run my planned workout. Then on Sunday next one scheduled by watch before 17:00. I will have another workout planned for Monday, while in the app or on the web there will be still those from Saturday. And then after 17:00 on Sunday it will be synced to actual plan from watch.

Hope that is clear enough without pictures.

  • I figured this one out:

For what it seems, Garmin has set the Daily Suggested Workouts as leading in one of this year's updates.
In fact, if you set an event as primary and don't do anything, the DSW will plan just in the same way as if you had created a Garmin Coach plan.

The problem is that if you have set events before the update, they will cause that both sides show different things. I think that the web is what is out of sync.

What I did (following a recommendation from Reddit), was to remove the plan. I also removed all the other events in my calendar, but I doubt that this is necessary. I then created a new plan, and it's in sync now.  It is, however, the same planning that my watch was showing previously as DSW.

Thus, the only advantage for creating a plan right now, is that you will see a dashboard for it.

On the other hand, the change makes sense, as DSW works pretty well, at least during the periods where you don't want to follow a very specific training, such as the time between race seasons. It does, however, work well enough to use it for more “serious” training. The “art” consists on scheduling your race events correctly to fit your periodization schedule.

    I hope it helps ;)

  • When you created a new plan, what platform did you use: web, app, or watch?
