Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing extreme battery drain? Seems like my watch is losing battery life faster than before..I know it was an issue a year or two ago but started noticing this the last couple of months… Anyone else?

YES, 955 Solar, losing more than 10% a day with everything off (all comms and PulseOx). Before, when it was new or within the first year was half of that. After every update is getting worse. With full…
Similar situation. After the latest updates (20.26, 20.29 and 20.31) the battery discharge in normal use mode increased by about one and a half to two times. In activity mode, the battery discharge did…
I’ve tried to reboot, and it does not work… I think it’s 10%+ daily without even doing an activity and more when I do… crazy… sleeping I lose close to 6-7% (8 hours not 12 ha)…. Not much I can do I guess…
Have a fr 255 and is draining worse than ever
YES, 955 Solar, losing more than 10% a day with everything off (all comms and PulseOx). Before, when it was new or within the first year was half of that. After every update is getting worse. With full charge and no recorded activities I cannot get 10 days...maybe over a week...which is not 15 days of battery life for FR955 or not even near marketed 20 days with 955 Solar.
I keep complaining here, but nothing changes and they do not improve battery life. In fact, it changes for the worse as I wrote. Every time I see new update log I hope battery drain fix or battery optimization, but sadly nothing. I don't want to buy another Garmin watch because the prices are now gone up twice from the FR955 (to F8) and the battery issues will continue probably on the new watches too, with other upcoming bugs.
I have similar feeling.
During any activity ok. In standart mode battery drain faster than ever.
Similar situation. After the latest updates (20.26, 20.29 and 20.31) the battery discharge in normal use mode increased by about one and a half to two times. In activity mode, the battery discharge did not change. I had no problems with firmware 19.18. I did not use incident registration, this function was not configured and disabled. Plus, on the latest firmware versions, the Stryd data field partially does not work for me - IQ symbols are displayed, although the data is written to the fit file. On all software versions, I did a factory reset, reinstalled the data field according to the Garmin instructions - all to no avail. Of course, it's a pity that Garmin releases software with such bugs and does not promptly fix them (((
Yep, I experience that too. Normally I've to charge once in 12 days. Now - with equal usage - once in 8 days.
No.
FR 955 non-solar.
Was a problem short term after release of 20.xx
It was also draining a little faster for me during "standby" (activities were ok).
But it is back to normal for me.
Maybe worth to know: I deactivated "Garmin Share" in the menu and also removed the IQ App for that. Maybe that did something, I don't know.
Anyway, don't forget to do a reboot sometimes (I ALWAYS do one after charging to 100%).
Almost all of already do that after every update, especially when notice higher battery drain. As I wrote, every connected or sharing service is off/disabled in my case.
So that is not the main issue. For sure Bluetooth on, phone connection and Garmin share would impact the battery even more, but if I get 10% per day... it is a good day. With no activities or interaction with the watch. I only scroll through the Morning report and lock the watch. I sync it manually with the phone about every 3-4 days.
More often if I have (significant) activity.
I’ve tried to reboot, and it does not work… I think it’s 10%+ daily without even doing an activity and more when I do… crazy… sleeping I lose close to 6-7% (8 hours not 12 ha)…. Not much I can do I guess, hopefully garmin locates issue/bug!!
I have experienced similar high battery drain.
Somehow my patient was not that much, thus I have contacted Garmin Support in Germany. They didn’t acknowledge that it’s caused by software issues. They rather meant my device is faulty. Subsequently I have received a replacement with Firmware 17.26. Battery drain is back to about 5-6% a day. Certainly the Firmware is an older one, but I will refuse any update as long as it is possible.
Yes, I forgot to mention. My watch was also replaced about year and a half ago. There was battery drain after an activity. If you put it in airplane mode after recorded GPS activity it drained battery in day or two.
I think that was resolved later, but I haven't tried it for a while. I just don't use airplane mode to save battery anymore. I was blaming the software, but they wanted me to send the watch back and they replaced it with a new one... with the same issue on the same version of software.
