Need wireless v28.17 after updating to v20.29

After updating to v20.29 the Forerunner 955 does not sync anymore to the iPhone. Trying to pair it again it now shows the message "Need wireless v28.17".

I have tryied to go back to factory configuration (system>reset) but it only deleted every app, data and configuration but it does not go to the old OS version.

How do I move on from here?

I have version 20.29 and wifi 28.17. Check it in your watch. If you have a different version, maybe the update did not go through completely. Maybe try the update via Garmin Express with USB cable.

Thank you for the post, I have "Wifi 28.15". All other versions match what you have. Plugging the watch into Garmin Express with USB does not update it to 28.17. Any clue on how to do a manual update?

Here I found full instructions. Unfortunately I have no idea what to do next.

1. install garmin express

2. start garmin express

3. in watch settings (System) set USB Mode to Garmin

4. connect your watch to your computer via usb cable

To end this in case someone has the same issue: I spoke to Garmin Support (Chat, then phone) and they recomended me to take the watch to a Local Support Center which I did (luckily there is one not far from my home). After a week they concluded the watch had to be replaced by a new one (I was still under the 1yr waranty period).

They could not explain what happened.

So I have a new FR955, did the SW update (not without fear) and it still works.
