955 Solar suddenly stopped responding

One morning, after two years of daily use and zero issues my watch decided it had enough. With at least 50% battery left it just went black. There’s no way I can get it to work again. I have contacted Garmin support. Four days now without any response.

Meanwhile I have tried the following.

1. Charging in various ways - pc, power bank, different wall connected charger etc. Nothing…

2. Holding Power button for 15, 30, 60, 90 seconds while connected to pc and chargers and also while not connected to anything. Nothing…

3. I have tried the “push right buttons, push the power button, wait for beep” method. Could not it to beep or any response at all.

4. I have tried to just wait, hoping it would change its mind. When I pressed the power button 24 hours without any charging it showed low battery. So I plugged it in and the triangle appeared on the screen. Then it went black again.

Thought that it might be some charging issues so I decided to

5. Cleaned the charging port with alcohol. Nothing….

6. I suspected the cable so I bought a new over priced Garmin original usb cable. Still no result.

7. Posting this in the Garmin forum, hoping to get some help. 

Any ideas how to proceed the trouble shooting?

  • Call Garmin - they have actually been really good in terms of replacing bricked watches for me. There are at least two hardware revisions of the 955 - seems like the first one might be more susceptible to these sorts of the issues than the newer one(s).
