Available stock watchfaces and screen legibility

I am considering trading in my Fenix 7 Solar Sapphire for a Forerunner 955 non-solar, because I am looking for a functionally similar watch with MIP, but without sapphire glass (for easier viewing of the display).

However pictures I see of the 955 feature a black background stock watchface with outlined digits, and I really need a white background with solid big black digits and no frills or color. Is that possible with the 955? If so, could someone post a picture of it? I know CIQ watchfaces are plenty, but I prefer a stock watchface.

I read that the 955 has continuous incoming call alerts again since the last update, which the Fenix never had, and that is a big motivator to change to it as well.

  • For most stock watch faces you can change the background from black to white.

This also applies to the watchface, that is always shown in the marketing material for FR955

Please note, that second one do not exists without hands. We have been asking for that option for a long time, without success.

  • This is not the only stock watchface, is it? If it is, are there no solid numbers for the hours? I hope the data fields are editable, I always have a barometer trend arrow, time UTC, time next sun event, etc, instead of battery, sports and health related data.

  •

This watchface has maybe 2 or 3 editable fields.

  • Thank you for all these images, the last one isn't too bad.

What do I want now.. a screen on which I can see the time at a glance without always needing backlight, and that I can see well during activities, navigating, in the sun and in low light. It isn't only about the watchface. And I have fond memories about the FR 935 that served me well for years.

  • MIP was the reason why I have chosen my FR955 over outdoor versions with OLED.

As you have already seen I need glasses to read. But I have no problem to see what time it is on dark watchface, and what is my current pace on light face during activity, and it is even better when sun is shining.

Of course after sunset I need backlight, which can be off in 4s (previously minimum was 8s)

If your concern right now is how clear you can see watchface, then maybe go for any race in your hood and ask someone to bend her/his arm and glance at it.

  • Of course after sunset I need backlight, which can be off in 4s (previously minimum was 8s)

But the great thing about MIP is that you can choose to leave the backlight on indefinitely during activities, at the expense of battery life, whereas it’s not an option for AMOLED to be on at full brightness all the time.

  • Here's another simple one:

  • Thank you all! I am happy to see there are these options. Now quite sure I will switch to the 955. Did some more reading of reviews too.It will take some time to get the business side of things sorted, but I'll be back :-)
