I noticed the same the day before yesterday in my run with music from my watch to my earbuds. Almost like the watch does not transmit the signal strong enough, like it used to do before.
Garmin-Sierra we are loosing features one by one.
We already lost the Optical Heartbeat reading feature, now the music player is not there anymore? really?
It seems like there's something going on about…
I had similar issue maybe a year ago and what always helped was to pause music for a second and then play it again. Try this as workaround until Garmin fixes it.

It seems like there's something going on about bluetooth because even the chest strap is loosing signal maybe, see the respiratory rate (which works only with chest strap connected):
