Automatic Interval Categorization is working on my watch but did not upload to Garmin Connect

I run a 1000mX6  interval session on a 400m track today.  I used Track Profile with auto-lap set to be 400m.  So I will get timing alert every 400m and I press the lap button when I reach 1000m (2.5 lap on lane 1 of 400m track).  The rest between each run is 3 minutes and I press the lap button to start running.  I this sense,  I am using lap button between run and rest.  According to the Garmin Support,  this will enable the automatic interval categorization because the pace of run and rest are different.  After finishing my session, my watch show the automatic interval categorization correctly as attached image.  However, those data did not upload to Garmin Connect.  I have to edit the lap information on my iPhone.  Is this a bug?  I have read the page.

But I do not know where I did it wrong.  Is that a bug of Garmin Connect?  I remember I did the same excise and the data are uploaded with any problem.   It just stop working.

  • Yeah Connect used to respect automatic interval categorization, but not anymore. Idk if it's a bug or not. I think at one point, the Connect website respected automatic intervals, but not the app. But now neither the website or app respect automatic intervals.

I do know that a few people complained about this feature in the forums, so I kinda wonder if this change was intentional.

It's kind of annoying because you get the worst of both worlds imo: automatic interval categorization on your watch can hide information about your individual laps in some cases (because several laps can be collapsed into a single warmup or cooldown interval, with no way to separate them on your watch), but you don't even get the benefit of seeing the intervals in Connect afterwards.

I think they should just pick a lane: support automatic interval categorization everywhere (the watch, app and website) or nowhere at all. And if they're going to properly support it, they could also make it an option, so ppl can turn it off if they don't like it.
