Intervals (run segment) being counted as "recovery" with latest firmware - anyone else?

With the latest firmware (20.21), when I do my intervals, my "run" segments are showing as "recovery" on my watch, and it's not showing me distance or pace like it normally does. Has anyone else experienced this? Super frustrating on my run this morning!

  • Are you sure you have not pressed Lap button accidentally which could swap Runs with Recovery?

You know that you can change lap type in GCM? Following process on Android phone

Activity -> Top right corner 3 dots -> Edit Activity -> Scroll down -> Show More Data -> Edit Intervals -> Select "correct" laps then change type

  • I do warm up first and then advance to run by pressing lap. That's when it shows recovery. Then, when I press it again, it goes to rest. It never goes to run.

  • Right. Is that prepared workout or just Run with Lap button pressed each time you change pace? From your description it look like the second one.

I am asking, because that edit Interval process should "fix" your data, despite experience during run.

I have used to create Workouts in advance, recreate DSW for intervals when I knew I will miss such one day and want to do next or even created ad hoc directly on Watch in the park when forgot to prepare it in advance.

  • This is just the built-in "interval" workouts. I always use them and just edit the intervals (i.e. 4 x 400 or 8 x 600, etc.)

I start the interval set, do warm up, advance with lap button and then it auto advances based on distance (run set) or time (rest set). Ever since the update to this latest firmware, it says "run 1/8" or "run 2/8" for example when it first advances, but then the data screen shows "recover" and it doesn't display time left in the set, pace, etc. like it normally does.

  • Thanks, I will try to reproduce this later today after my Threshold run.

  • I confirm, for me too, when I perform structured interval training, after the warm-up phase, I press the LAP button, in the fast phase screen, the pace and time remaining at the end of the phase are not seen, but the recovery phase screen
  • My observations:

    1. During workout made directly on watch -> Run -> Training -> Intervals -> Structured Repeats I can see Recovery at the top of the Screen instead expected Run.

    2. Changeover from Run to Rest is correctly announced on the screen

    3. After complete workout it is correctly presented in both GCWeb and GCM

I think as you (and me) are on latest beta 20.21 you should report this bug here

  • I saw your report on the Public Beta Program site, actually I did too, but I don't see it anymore.
In any case, I have indicated the anomaly found with a "+". Thank you
  • Same for me as well! But afterwards on connect it shows as intervals
