955 freezes when sunbathing

I noticed my watch face froze last week whilst sunbathing. Time stood still, the seconds werent moving. I reset watch, long press and thought no more of it, other than thinking it was just a bug from update (19:18)

However, yesterday whilst again sunbathing for recovery, the damm watch face froze twice, which as you can imagine is annoying when you're trying to give equal tanning times to body.

Its not happend during an activity before. That would be terrible, running and losing data,

What is going on?

Maybe the temperature is beyond operating range? It black so it absorbes a lot of heat.

Had the same three times this week. Two of them were when hiking, one ofter swimming pool.

Out of curiosity was it the solar or non-solar variant?

Hello, my 955 is non solar.

Annoyingly this afternoon after sitting in a chair (not sunbathing) at a BBQ the watch again froze in the sun.

Its cleary temperature senstive and shuts down. Many digital watches are black, have been black for years but not heard of shut downs

Non solar.

Since the watch has a lithium-ion-battery it will shut down due to safety reasons.

Operating temperature is up to 60°C or 140°F. Maybe you can have a look at the watches temperature when sunbathing again, if you get close to the upper temperature limit.

Yes, you are right. It seems that it is the temperature of the unit. However the problem is new, something makes the watch hot easily.

Mine is solar. Air temp was 35 celsius degrees and apparently it is just month after end of warranty.

Last year I was using it in the same temperatures...

Other sources of failure are also possible. E.g. a drift in the temperature sensor, defective internal component such as the cpu, ...

I just wanted to remind, that at some point the product standard for the Li-Ion Battery demands to shut down the device. And the temperature when directly exposed to the sun might geht much higher than wearing it in the sauna...
