Wrong Heart rate on OHR. FW 19.18

Early I wrote about same problem at FW 18.26

The problem of incorrect operation of the optical heart rate sensor still remains.
Yesterday there was a 10km race. I went to the start after a good warm-up.
as you can see in the screenshot, only after 10 minutes of maximum activity the device began to show the correct heart rate (red graph). Blue is running pace

  • I really don't know what can bring the development team to a move to fix this instead of getting another new type of workout. Just get back to firmware from mid-2023 and analyze the changes. It's concerning FR, Fenix, Edge etc. I think many customers who are software engineer would be willing to volunteer to help analyze it and have this fixed.

This will become a risk for future watch sales if not dealt with soon.

Another option: open source the core firmware incl. sensor interfaces and make all applications and other smart s/w closed source...

  • Very old issue now for me since 15.xx F7/E2, for a basic and so important feature on the watch !

    ---

I'm tracking it since a long time now, but the fixes (WHR upgrade, specific bugfixes) implemented since approx 16.xx F7/E2 (and all models FRx55/x65, etc.) didn't correct the regression introduce in the past.

  • Hello,

I now believe that this problem exists with all watches with the heart rate sensor 4 (Garmin Elevate 4) and that Garmin can no longer get to grips with the problem. All 255, 265, 955, 965, Fenix 7 etc. have this sensor. I am really disappointed with Garmin.

  • I have never had problems with OHR until today, on a single jog I noticed that the HR changed abruptly starting at about the 8 minute mark. I think the real HR is the one after this abrupt rise, what I don't understand is what happened the previous 8 minutes that didn't reflect my HR correctly. I did a proper warm up, etc.

  • Today a new attempt on a short run and  the same graphic... It's OHR unusable for running ? I'm really surprised because the HR graphic it's almost identical to the previous activity...
Yesterday I did also a short run with the HRM Dual and I not dectected any problem.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • All,

Thank you for sharing. We have been tracking OHR concern during activities, but already have a main thread regarding this topic. Please see THIS thread for my updates and future comments.

I am going to lock this thread so we can keep the topic under one thread.

    Thanks again!
